Guaramiranga

About 100 km from Fortaleza, on a plateau at an altitude of almost 1000m, lies this charming little town. Its geographical location has made it known as the "Switzerland of Brazil", offering a large annual jazz festival and a cooler temperature than its neighbours in this hot northern state of Brazil. Nature is lush here, with the Atlantica forest spreading out all around, and walking along the trails promises wonderful hikes. Travellers will encounter numerous waterfalls and natural pools, but beware, the water is ice cold! At Pico Alto and at the Mirante Linha da Serra, one can enjoy the panoramic view of the valley that plunges into the Sertão of Ceara. It's an ideal oasis for travellers looking for coolness in this very dry region!
